RCBA CYCLE 4 LIFE

RCBA is a newly chartered Rotary Club on 12 January 2018, the 83rd club in the Rotary International (“RI”) District 3300 Malaysia, a member of Rotary International world-wide service organization comprising overseas and local clubs where neighbours, community leaders and individuals are united for the common ideal of promoting International Goodwill and Understanding and “Doing Good In The World”. Rotary International, with its 35,000+ clubs and more than 1.2 million members called Rotarians is now 113 years old and is the oldest community service organization in the world. 

RCBA CYCLE 4 LIFE is a signature project of the Rotary Club of Bukit Angkasa, a voluntourism fundraising cyclathon for Rotary Kidney Fund which will bring together Rotarians from Malaysia and abroad, along with youth cyclists in aid of the kidney patients, health awareness and prevention, and Making A Difference to the community. 

The soft launch of RCBA CYCLE 4 LIFE project was officiated by the Guest of Honour Y.A.M. Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar on 1st February 2018 during the Charter Night Celebration and Installation of Charter President & Board at Dynasty Dragon Seafood Restaurant, Atria Shopping Gallery, Petaling Jaya. 

RCBA CYCLE 4 LIFE is on its way to achieving a phenomenal success. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) had given its support by endorsing this cyclathon project as part of the promotional activities for the Visit Malaysia Year 2020, aptly themed, Travel.Enjoy.Respect to showcase “Malaysia, Truly Asia” to 1.2 million Rotarians all over the world. 

RCBA CYCLE 4 LIFE is an International Charity Project, involving 6 Countries (Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia), 7 Rotary International Districts, and approximately 20 Rotary Clubs locally and overseas. 

OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF “RCBA CYCLE 4 LIFE” 
1. Project Outline In conjunction with The Rotary Foundation’s 101st Anniversary, RCBA CYCLE 4 LIFE will invite 101 Cyclists to participate in this voluntourism fundraising cyclathon charity ride from Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh & Penang Island, covering a distance of approximately 250KM for a duration of 3 days 2 nights from 28/04 to 30/04/2018. 

The daily cycling event will also be organised at KL (KL City Ride @ 28/04/18), Ipoh (Ipoh Historical Ride @ 29/04/18) & Penang (Penang Round Island @ 30/04/2018) with approximately 1,500 cyclists from local and overseas Rotarians and friends. 

2. Objectives of “RCBA Cycle 4 Life”: 
  • To raise funds to provide assistance to dialysis patients from Klang Valley, Ipoh and Penang; 
  • To provide education & raise awareness on kidney diseases; 
  • To promote organ donation in Malaysia especially kidney; 
  • To promote tourism in Malaysia, particularly voluntourism projects, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2020 
3. International Participation 
This cycling charity event will invite 50 overseas Rotarians from 6 countries, namely Hong Kong, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand to join as the international participants and the fellow Rotarians & friends from Malaysia (include Sabah & Sarawak) to form the 101 Cyclists. 

4. Youth Participants 
20 youth cyclists (aged from 17 to 23 years old) will be selected to participate in this international cycling event as part of a mentoring program to groom and nurture them to become the future leaders of tomorrow. 

5. Fund Raising & Distribution: 
All the funds from sponsors & donors are required to be banked-in to "Yayasan Kelab-Kelab Rotary Malaysia", a Rotary International District 3300 Foundation Account. Tax exempt official receipts will be issued to sponsors & donors for RM1,000/- & above. Let us be “Making A Difference” in the lives of others together.
