LE MARCHÉ DE NOËL SUCCESSFULLY RAISES RM200,000 FOR CHARITY IN ONE DAY

  • Funds will be channeled to help less fortunate Malaysian children battling lifethreatening illnesses or fulfill their wishes via Make-A-Wish Malaysia and A-Heart for AHeart organizations
  • The 8th installation of Le Marché de Noël Christmas charity bazaar was once again graced by French Ambassador to Malaysia His Excellency Frédéric Laplanche, who was present to show his continued support

Much to the excitement of ardent bazaar aficionados, the oneday only Le Marché de Noël returned for the 8th consecutive year at Glasshouse at Seputeh to spread festive cheer and at the same time raise funds to help underprivileged children once again. The annual French-themed charity bazaar has successfully raised RM200,000 to be channeled to MakeA-Wish Malaysia and A-Heart for A-Heart organizations to provide financial aid for underprivileged Malaysian children battling slife-threatening medical conditions.
Combined with the amount raised since its debut in 2011, the philanthropic efforts by the Le Marché de Noël committee have raised more than RM1.2 million over the years to help provide financial aid for medical treatments and fulfill the wishes of ailing underprivileged Malaysian children. In this year alone, five paediatric cardiac surgeries were funded and 12 wishes were fulfilled courtesy of the amount raised in the 2017 Le Marché de Noël.

Boasting 70 vendors offering a wide range of premium goods, handcrafted items and gastronomic delights under one roof, the atmospheric bazaar was thronged by enthusiastic festive shoppers – both young and old – who were looking for unique and meaningful gifts for their loved ones. This time around, the bazaar was further livened up by several social enterprise vendors who constantly strive to make a difference in the lives of their communities, namely Tanma Federation, Nazanin, The Batik Boutique, Penan Bags, and Surya Bags.

“This is my second time visiting this bazaar and I must say that the offerings just keep getting better! When I first visited it last year after knowing about it from a friend, I was already in awe. I am particularly fascinated with the handmade handbags available here!” enthused Charmaine Pua, one of the bazaar shoppers. “One of the things I admire most about this bazaar is its noble cause that it has been supporting. I am very heartened when informed that every single sen collected from the PRESS RELEASE: LE MARCHÉ DE NOËL SUCCESSFULLY RAISES RM200,000 FOR CHARITY IN ONE DAY 2 rental of the vendor space goes towards making a difference in underprivileged kids’ lives. Indeed, it is true altruism as the committee members do not claim any expenses from the amount raised,” she continued.

The French Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Frédéric Laplanche, was present for the second consecutive year to show his support for the meaningful event. “I am extremely honored to be invited to Le Marché de Noël once again, and seeing how supportive and receptive our Malaysian friends have been towards the French culture gave me great joy. Even though I am far away from home country in this festive season, the warmth I have received from our Malaysian counterparts has been nothing short of beautiful. I am looking forward to seeing more meaningful collaborations between the two nations,” he said.

The Le Marché de Noël 2018 organizing committee said, “Over the past eight years, we have received tremendous support and so much love from our kind-hearted visitors, vendors and sponsors. The support and motivation are what keep us going and we are ever so determined to raise as much funds as we can for the underprivileged children so that they are able to live a better life and pursue their dreams. Le Marché de Noël would not have been made possible without everyone’s support and efforts. For that, we are immensely grateful for everyone’s involvement in making this event another success.”
Like its previous editions, Le Marché de Noël has received strong support from various companies in Malaysia especially those with French roots or relations. Among the biggest sponsors and supporters were Helipartner and Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur. Other sponsors included AXA, Peugeot, Naval Group, Technip, ONE OSTEO, AGS, Axens, BNP Paribas, Colas Rail Asia, Sanofi, Luther, VINCI Construction Grands Projets
