BOUSTEAD PROPERTIES DONATES 5,000 LUNCH BOXES TO FRONTLINERS
The property developer is responding to the need for meals at University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Hospital Ampang, and Hospital Sungai Buloh by sponsoring 5,000 lunch boxes for doctors and nurses in the Covid-19 wards and intensive care units. The month-long corporate social responsibility initiative being undertaken in collaboration with non-profit organisation Beyond Borders Malaysia started on June 14, 2021, with nutritious meals being distributed at a total cost of RM40,000 borne by Boustead Properties.
Given the hectic schedule of frontliners who are caring for an unprecedented escalating number of infected stream of patients, Boustead Properties expects the daily meals to fulfill a much-needed time-out for sustenance, in addition to boosting spirit and morale. Its Chief Operating Officer Eason Phan said, “This initiative is very much in line with the company’s overarching goal of reaching out to Malaysians from all walks of life who are being adversely challenged by the pandemic. It is our humble way of appreciating the valiant efforts of dedicated frontliners who are risking their lives each day for the sake of the country. By having nutritious meals delivered directly to them, we hope this helps our frontliners in a small way.”He added, “Flattening the curve and ending the pandemic is a shared responsibility, with each one of us playing a role. The company will continue to strive to support the Government in its efforts and measures to help the nation get through these exceptionally tough times.”
According to
Kuala Lumpur-based Beyond Borders, well-balanced meals are prepared by single
mothers and co-workers. They will be delivered to the hospitals daily by
volunteers following strict standard operating procedures. Its founder Mahi
Ramakrishnan said, “We are grateful to be able to work with a caring corporate
entity like Boustead Properties and commend them for their altruism. There is a
current shortage of readily available meals to support the needs of our healthcare
workers, with many missing meals due to lack of time. Through such gestures
from the corporate sector, we can continue to support their daily needs.”
Eason also added, “We are glad to include Hospital Sungai Buloh in this activity as a token of our gratitude for the excellent care given to three of our staff who was recently admitted for Covid-19 and have since fully recovered.”
Boustead Properties’ food sponsorship comes on the heels of its other pandemic-related initiatives which include financial relief and other assistance provided to its business partners and retailers during the previous phases of the movement control order.
