KidZania Kuala Lumpur's Infinite Possibilities at Your Doorstep Amidst MCO
Almost two months into the
Movement Control Order (MCO) with another few weeks (at least) to go before
school reopens, without a doubt many parents are faced with the tricky
challenge of having bored, restless kids. Homebound with nowhere to go, KidZana
Kuala Lumpur answers the call of parents with a mammoth list of fun and
interactive #KidZaniaAtHome activities to keep your children learning, engaged
and occupied.
According to Mayor Shahrul Nizar
Ahmad, KidZania Kuala Lumpur subscribes to the idea that no matter where we are
- even at home - learning can and should be a fun part of children's lives, in
line with its "Learn Life Today" philosophy. "Being out of the
classroom does not mean that the learning process cannot continue. In fact, the
opportunities and potential for learning abound just about anywhere. As we
celebrate our 8th Anniversary this year as a City of Infinite Possibilties, we
have put together some activies from which kids can learn a great deal in a fun
and interactive manner. Parents, you can thank us later!", added Shahrul
Nizar Ahmad.

1. A Little Chef is Born
No more dine-ins? No problem! Now
is the perfect opportunity for little ones to turn the tables, don their chef
hats and take charge of the kitchen – under watchful supervision of course!
Have a go at whipping up a healthy
scrambled egg breakfast wrap for you and your family with only four simple steps. All you’ll need is
some eggs, salt, cheese, salad and some Mission Food wraps! If you are up for a
challenge, try making pasta from scratch! Simply follow the step-by-step guide here and you'll be serving
up a scrumptious plate of homemade pasta for the family in no time!
While this may sound like a recipe
for a messy kitchen space, fear not! It is a lot simpler than you think and is
also the perfect activity to demonstrate the science behind food. Who knows,
you just might spark a culinary interest in your little one.

4. Turn Your Little Talking Machine
into a Podcaster
Let's face it, kids love to talk
especially when they are excited about something. Take the opportunity to
channel those active thoughts into something productive by turning it into a
podcast!
What is a podcast? It is akin to a
radio show but instead of being broadcasted live, a podcast is recorded and
shared online. It's a great way to enhance communication skills and build
confidence in your child as you provide them with a platform to express
themselves and discuss things they are passionate about.
Step i. Find your topic - Best thing about not having
to go to school, science experiments, or even one for your moms as Mother's Day
is coming up in May!
Step ii. Research the topic and collect kool facts
about it
Step iii. Record on the voice memo app
on your phone and put it up on 'SoundCloud'. Alternatively, you can also
download the 'Anchor' app and record from there
Step iv. Share the link with
your friends and family (and with us!) so we can all tune in to your podcast
For some creative ideas of a
podcast be sure to check out BFM's podcast library.
5. Swanderful Service
Fight cabin fever and make staying
at home more fun by bringing a touch of the hotel experience to your homes with
some towel art fun!
With a bath towel in hand, follow
these simple steps to create your own swan
towel:
Step i. Fold the top corners downwards and inwards so
that they meet in the centre
Step ii. Roll the outside edges
inward towards the centre
Step iii. Fold the resulting
arrow into a ‘Z
Step iv. Lastly, set the ‘Z’
down and squeeze the corners to set the curves
An easy way to keep the little
ones occupied and entertained with only minimal resources needed!
6. A Night in the Museum
Stay inspired while you stay
indoors by giving life to the objects around you. All you'll need is some toys,
a great big imagination and a desire to role play!
Have the little ones turn the house
into a museum by picking out some toys and pretend they have been uncovered by
an archaeologist 100 years in the future. The toys are now the prized
possesions at the National Museum.
Spice it up by:
i. Writing out exhibit cards
decribing each toy.
ii. Asking how will achaeologists
in the future explain the historical background of your toys?
iii. Describing why historians
think a person 100 years ago would have valued this object.
7. The Thank-You Project
It is indeed never too young to
say Thank You, especially so now when our unsung heroes are leading the fight
against the global pandemic that led to the MCO. Have your little ones join us
in expressing gratitude and appreciation to the brave frontliners in this time
of adversity.
You can:
i. Whip out your craft kit and
create a 'Zank-You' card.
ii. Gather the troops (at home)
and make a short video to document your thank you messages on video! No fancy
camera needed, just your trusty mobile phone.
iii. Create awareness by educating
citiZens about good hygiene habits and social distancing through your social
media
On this, we would like to say
'Zank-You' to our faithful doctors, nurses, safety practitioners, sanitation
officers, security personnels and service workers who are tirelessly and selflessly
working to do everything in their power to keep everyone safe. You have made
history as Malaysian heroes and heroines.
