McDonald’s Malaysia and its
customers are spreading cheer to children at more than 1,000 orphanages across
the country till mid-January. 35,000 Happy Meals will be delivered to children
at these orphanages which have been impacted by the effects of the pandemic
this year.
“We
ran a donation programme at McDonald’s restaurants across the nation for over a
month, from the start of October till mid-November. Our customers donated a
total of 17,891 Happy Meals, and we at McDonald’s Malaysia matched this amount.
Now, 35,000 Happy Meals are being distributed to children in more than 1,000
orphanages across the country,” said Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local
Operating Partner of McDonald’s Malaysia.
“We thank all our customers who responded to the Happy Meal donation programme for joining us in spreading ‘feel good moments’ to children across the country. We hope that these Happy Meals will bring joy and cheer to the children during this time of the year,” added Azmir.
According to Azmir, the Happy Meals will be distributed to selected orphanages across the nation, from 16 December till 10 January.
This latest initiative by McDonald’s Malaysia is part of the company’s ongoing community engagement activities that take place all year round. With an aim to create a positive impact in the communities it operates in, McDonald’s Malaysia encourages its restaurant crew at its more than 300 restaurants across the nation to carry out at least two community activities each month.
From 1,200 community activities in 2015, McDonald’s Malaysia has carried out more than 7,000 activities in 2020. Throughout the year, McDonald’s Malaysia has sponsored close to 200,000 meals to the country’s frontliners – including hospital workers, police, and army personnel.
“If 2020 has taught us anything, is that it is now more important than ever for us to stand together stronger as a nation and as a community. This latest contribution to more than 1,000 orphanages is a testament to the collaborative #KitaBoleh spirit that will ultimately have a positive effect on the community. We at McDonald’s Malaysia will continuously do our best for the communities we operate in,” said Azmir.About McDonald's
